ZOMBIESHAKERBOX RELEASES DEBUT ALBUM, ENCRYPTED
(6 July – Las Vegas, NV) Upcoming Las Vegas alternative hard rock act ZombieShakerBox have recently released their debut album, Encrypted. Fronted by Washington, DC native Kirk Hulshoff, the band is also comprised of guitarist, Jami Lin, bassist Cory Kay and drummer Tomonori Sugiyama. Two years in the making, Encrypted was recorded at Piranha Digital Studios in Burbank, CA. Produced by Hulshoff and engineered by Mike Milchner, the album features ten blistering tracks rooted in ’90′s grunge but with a more modern, melodic twist to the material.
Formed in early 2008, ZombieShakerBox quickly found it’s legs and headed straight into the studio to begin work on Encrypted, all the while building a strong local fanbase on the strength of it’s live show. Once the album was finished the band took to the road playing shows throughout Nevada, California and Utah, impressing club promoters so much that the band was invited back time and again, extending their following beyond their Las Vegas home territory. In 2010 ZombieShakerBox won “Best Male Vocalist” at the LA Music Awards and “Best Metal Band” at the Vegas Rocks Awards. “We opened the Las Vegas Music Awards with “Blow N’ Smoke” and won ‘Best Metal Band’ based on that performance, relates bassist, Cory Kay. “We got to turn a lot of heads that night with a lot of big time players. It was definitely my favourite experience to date with the band. After winning at the LA Music Awards it made me realize that ZombieShakerBox is going places.”
Encrypted is an autobiography of sorts for singer Kirl Hulshoff, as the lyrics deal primarily with drugs and living life far roo close to the edge for comfort – subjects that Hulshoff is far too familiar with. “”I went down the wrong road more times than I can count and luckily was able to rebound from everything,” he reflects. “Lyrically, the album takes you through the pain, regret, lessons learned and redemption that eventually made me a stronger person coming out of it all.”
Encrypted is in stores now and will be up on iTunes and other digital outlets on July 12.
